General Information

Summary:
To communicate the Department’s Incident Management (IM) Program goals, objectives, best practices within and around Pennsylvania, IM related activities, to establish standard approaches to creating a District-specific IM plan, and to gauge a current state of IM operations in each District.

Learning Outcomes:
• Understanding of the Department’s IM Program, policies and standards.
• Learning IM-related Best Practices within and around Pennsylvania.
• A District-Specific Self-Assessment for IM outlining the current state of the District’s IM Program, how it compares with other Districts, tools and resources being used by other Districts and neighboring states.
• IM Program Performance Measures (individually and Statewide)

Target Audience:
PennDOT employees only. District support staff associated with Traffic Incident Management policy and practice, which might include the ADE-Maintenance, Maintenance Services, Incident Management Coordinator, Emergency Management Coordinator and the Traffic Unit.
County Managers or Assistants directly associated with advancing policy and practice in field response, with an emphasis on those involved in interstate or interstate look-alike response. Traffic Management Center supervisory staff or key operators with specific responsibility for improvement and support of traffic incident management communications.

• Outline internal program goals and objectives and applicability to counties
• Outline approaches to program creation using self-assessment tools and best practices matrix
