General Information

Summary:
This course is intended for an audience involved in the planning, design and/or construction of roads and other structures involved with transportation. This course will provide participants with an understanding of acid bearing rock (ABR), the potential impacts (environmental and roadway infrastructure) of acid rock drainage (ARD), how acid runoff forms, determining if acid forming materials are present, and mitigation strategies.

•Geologic indicators.
•Impact of geologic structure.
•Assessing potential for ABR.
•Investigating if ABR is present.
•Testing of materials for acid and acid neutralization potential (overburden testing)
