Summary: | This course is specifically designed for Commonwealth employees that are required to collect bulk sampling of construction materials to identify asbestos containing materials, compile inspection reports, or those who desire to understand the inspection process. Since EPA requires inspections of all buildings/structures prior to renovation and demolition, PennDOT has established inspection and reporting requirements, and some of these responsibilities fall upon Department personnel. Detailed information concerning the steps in the inspection and bulk sampling process are discussed. This class includes a 4-hour mock inspection exercise. Passing of an examination is required for individuals seeking their asbestos building inspector license.

Target Audience: | This class is for persons who performs environmental work, design, or rehabilitation of bridge superstructures who have never before been licensed as an asbestos building inspector or for those who have held licenses, but whose license has been expired for more than one year following its expiration date. Central Office/District Design and Maintenance personnel, and/or Construction personnel whose job responsibilities involve assessing and oversight of asbestos abatement activities.
