General Information

Summary:
Required for District personnel to be certified to file PUC Applications. Detailed instruction provided on processes for managing Grade Crossing projects (Safety and Highway/Bridge) outlined in Publication 371. Topics include programming & planning; design; reimbursement agreement & PUC related processes; construction; and closing out project. Participants to bring Publication 371 and several, actual projects (both types for discussion and in-class examples.

Learning Outcomes:
- File PUC Applications
- Issue design and construction notices-to-proceed
- Approve railroad’s selected, low-bid contractor
- Explain the role and responsibilities of the District Grade Crossing Engineer/Administrator and how this contributes to maintaining project schedules..
- Identify the project and contract requirements of a highway/bridge project involving railroads or a Section 130 Safety project.
As a result of the training and passing the exam, participants will be certified by Central Office to complete the following tasks for both Grade Crossing Safety and Highway/Bridge projects:
