General Information

Summary:	The course presents state-of-the-practice techniques to identify the causes and patterns of different types of pavement distress and techniques for rehabilitation selection, design, and construction that can be applied to those various types of distress.
Learning Outcomes:	Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to: •Describe typical behavior and performance of hot-mix asphalt (HMA) pavements •Identify common types of HMA pavements distress and be able to describe their mechanisms •Describe key components of a thorough project-level evaluation •Describe the variety of rehabilitation techniques available and state their deficiencies •Identify feasible rehabilitation techniques for HMA pavements exhibiting different distresses and conditions •Develop the process for selecting the preferred rehabilitation alternative •Develop the process for selecting the preferred rehabilitation alternative.
Teaching Method:	Classroom-based instruction
Target Audience:	Highway engineers in design, construction, and maintenance who are involved in the application of pavement rehabilitation techniques.
