Learning Outcomes: | Upon successful completion of this course, the attendee will be able to: •Identify what an integral abutment is, why use it, when it can (and cannot) be used, and how it functions. •Describe in general terms how integral abutments are designed. •Determine the general layout details for integral abutments presented in BD-667M as they relate to abutment geometry, reinforcing, and scour protection. •Indicate which types of wingwalls are appropriate at the integral abutment based on beam depth and required wall length. •Recognize the design limitations (for span length, skew, etc.) from PennDOT DM-4, Appendix G.
