General Information

Summary:
This advanced course covers processing workflows of point clouds that are produced from terrestrial scanners such as the SX10, using Trimble Business Center procedures for projects. It applies advanced concepts with Point Cloud applications, and recommended practices in an interactive environment.
Attendees will be presented an opportunity to have a detailed knowledge of importing, processing, and QA/QC of the point cloud data. The specific topics to be discussed are:
o the point cloud ribbon
o importing scan data & types
o registering scans
o georeferencing scans
o extracting point cloud regions and creating regions
o creating CAD points from point clouds
o creating line work from point clouds and extraction tools
o Trimble Clarity, and exporting to other point cloud software.

Learning Outcomes:
The learning outcomes for attendees include an understanding of:
o Import/Export/Merging/Clipping point cloud data
o Classifying point clouds
o Measuring distances & angles in point clouds
o Geo-referencing & Registration tools
o Create/Edit/Merge point cloud surfaces
o Line work and feature Extraction
o Structure Monitoring tools and reports
o Terrestrial Scanner physical data capture options and configuration

Teaching Method:
Interactive Instructor Led - Virtual.

Prerequisites:
Must have previously passed "Survey – TBC Basic Training" AND "Survey – TBC Advanced Training" before registration for this course is accepted.
Provide Training Transcript to RA-PDHighAdminTrain@pa.gov at least 10 days prior to class, for proof of prerequisites.

Target Audience:
Target Audience includes District & Central Office Surveyors

Special Materials:
-Two computer monitors is recommended so the attendee can visually follow along while preforming the same actions as the instructor.
-Trimble Business Center version 5.7 must be installed PRIOR to this class
- An activation code will be issued for invited attendees to use. Users will not use the HASP key (dongle) to operate the software, but rather the DEMO code.
