Summary: | The Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) is a core Federal-aid highway program with the primary purpose to achieve a significant reduction in traffic fatalities and serious injuries on all public roads through the implementation of infrastructure-related highway safety improvements. The HSIP is a roadway safety management process that consists of three main components: Planning, Implementation and Evaluation. While the HSIP is a Federal program, it is important to note the program components are applicable to road safety management processes at all levels of government. With a focus on results, the HSIP emphasizes a data-driven, strategic approach to improving highway safety. The this course introduces safety professionals to new procedures and technologies, and provide information on topics ranging from core safety concepts to detailed discussions of technical methods for data-driven safety planning which will result in successful HSIP efforts.
