General Information

Summary:
Tony Mento from FHWA is presenting topics related to Contract Administration in a virtual training setting. All PennDOT and Turnpike employees who work in the areas of design, construction and maintenance would benefit from attending. New employees and other employees who wish to have a refresher on the following topics..

Learning Outcomes:
Participants will gain an understanding of the following topics:
1. FHWA Overview
2. Value Engineering
3. General Requirements specifically related to local project delivery, major projects and discretionary grants
4. Environmental – high level overview
5. Work Zone Traffic Control
6. Utility Accommodation including federal requirements, utility certification, agreements in place. Railroads will also be discussed and compared in a similar path.
7. Job Site Safety- general statement however safety is governed by OSHA
8. Pavement Design/Life Cycle Cost Analysis
9. Accommodations for Bicyclists and Pedestrian-emphasize that this is to be considered in all programs.
10. Design Exceptions (justifications)/Design Standard (AASHTO & NHI perspective)
11. Requirements of the Americans with Disability Act
12. Emergency Relief (ER)
