General Information

Summary:
This course is designed to familiarize users with the project planning application known as PennDOT Connects. Participants will learn how to define a proposal area, create Project Initiation Forms (PIF's), and walk through the Connects process. The webinar will discuss how PennDOT is integrating a more collaborative approach to transportation planning and project delivery to achieve Secretary Leslie Richards’ vision for better communities through better transportation solutions. The course will discuss the connection between planning and engineering, what PennDOT Connects means for project delivery, and what PennDOT Connects means for performance management.

Learning Outcomes:
-PennDOT staff and business partners will have a better understanding of how collaboration with Planners can positively impact transportation solutions during project delivery.
-Define a problem area using the Proposal Area Designer mapping tool.
-Walk through the process of creating and editing Proposals and Project Initiation Forms (PIF's).
-Understand the different roles assigned to each person in the Connects process.
-Learn the value of planning, the integration of planning and engineering, and local government collaboration to improve transportation for better communities.
