General Information

Summary:
This webinar will introduce the concept of the State Transportation Innovation Council (STIC) with a focus on its genesis in the Every Day Counts program and promise to push innovation into practice through collaboration of the transportation industry.

Learning Outcomes:
Participants in this webinar can expect to develop an understanding in the overall structure and mechanics of the STIC. They will be informed about how to join and how they can individually contribute to the STIC through TAG participation. STIC catalog of innovations will be referenced. The audience will be instructed on Department’s status of adaptive signal control and autonomous vehicles/Vision 2040; the nexus of improved safety with innovative pavement techniques such as safety edge, rumble strips with thin overlays, and high friction surfaces; and construction techniques such as Expanded Polystryrene GeoFoam, crushed concrete aggregate, and intelligent compaction. Knowledge of these items and more will consultant and contractors to be aware of getting-edge expectations of the Department. Likewise, local governments will benefit from knowing if and how they can apply these techniques using liquid fuel funds.
