Summary: | The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) will provide a training for PennDOT staff on the use of Innovative Bridge Designs for Rapid Renewal (R04), developed through the second Strategic Highway Research Program (SHRP2). This SHRP2 Solution includes a design toolkit for state and local transportation agencies to better implement accelerated bridge construction techniques and approaches. The toolkit offers standardized approaches to streamline the activities required to design, fabricate, and erect bridge replacement systems quickly with minimal traffic disruptions. The SHRP2-sponsored one-day training will provide detailed information about the R04 Toolkit, lessons learned from the pilot projects, as well as information about the eight state implementation projects funded by SHRP2 that used accelerated bridge construction innovations. It will include contracts and designs for your specific projects, and goals to improve processes and delivery. The training will be led by R04 subject matter expert Finn Hubbard, P.E.
