Summary: | This course combines Federal and Pennsylvania specific temporary traffic control guidelines, providing attendees with a comprehensive perspective of work zones in Pennsylvania. The ultimate focus of the course is work zone safety. Employing pertinent PennDOT policies and procedures, as well as the latest industry research, the course guides attendees from the fundamental principles of work zones, through policy and guidance documents, preparing a safe and efficient TTC plan. This course also covers: Road User Liquidated Damages (RULDs); Transportation Management Plans; and innovative design considerations as they relate to safety and mobility. Workshops are interwoven throughout the course giving attendees an opportunity to develop their Temporary Traffic Control knowledge. This course is part of a series of three classes: Introduction to TTC Safety; TTC Safety Deployment and Oversight, and TTC Safety Design & Review. This course replaces “PennDOT Work Zone Training: From Planning to Operations”

Target Audience: | Construction Managers and Designers and District Traffic Engineer • Construction Inspection staff responsible for reviewing and/or modifying TTC plans • Consultant/contractor professional engineer signing and sealing Traffic Control Plans (TCP) • Department/PTC professional engineer signing and sealing the TCP • Department/PTC personnel responsible for designing, reviewing, and/or approving the TCP • All personnel with responsibility or authority for the design and/or review of TTC are encouraged to satisfactorily complete this training to ensure individuals stay up-to-date with latest standards, policies, and requirements to effectively perform their job duties.
