Summary: | Maintenance-IQ is based on Geospatial Information System (GIS) mapping technology with the main purpose to improve the planning and scheduling of maintenance activities. GIS mapping is a perfect fit for maintenance because almost everything we do is location-based. The intent of this training is to provide managers (i.e., District Maintenance Managers, County Managers, Assistant County Maintenance Managers, RPC/Business Managers) with “hands-on” training of how this new tool can be used to improve maintenance planning through data integration, analysis, and visualization to help eliminate out-of-sequence rework (i.e., prep-type activities performed soon after a surface improvement), support getting selected maintenance activities on-cycle (in turn, decreasing on-demand maintenance needs and efforts), and to reduce mobilization and travel time costs. This intranet-based application provides an easy-to-use interface geared to increase efficiency and reduce costs, and is an important step in continuing to transform PennDOT’s knowledge management from a traditionally “data rich but information poor organization to being both data and information rich.” Top 5 Maintenance-IQ Benefits: • Scope Maintenance Needs • Improve Maintenance Planning • Identify Coordination Opportunities (Regionalization) • Increase Operational Efficiency • Conduct Cycle Maintenance
