General Information

Summary:
A one day update/refresher course with 7 hours of instruction for certified Asphalt Level 1 and Level 2 Plant Technicians. Attendance to at least one of these courses is required during the five-year certification period for certification renewal using Option A outlined in Publication 351. Updated plant information, PennDOT specifications, Bulletin 27 requirements, and referenced test methods will be reviewed.

Learning Outcomes:
To update certified Asphalt Level 1 and Level 2 Plant Technicians in the latest specifications, procedures and test methods associated with plant production and testing of asphalt mixtures. To review problems from the previous year's production season and to review potential solutions to those problems.

Prerequisites:
This is a refresher course, not a training course. A working knowledge of basic asphalt mixture plant and production principles and procedures is necessary. Participants should be either a certified Asphalt Level 1 Plant Technician or a certified Asphalt Level 2 Plant Technician.

Target Audience:
PennDOT and consultant Asphalt Plant Inspectors/Technicians, PennDOT Materials Unit Staff and Producer Plant Quality Control Technicians who are certified Level 1 or Level 2 Plant Technicians.

Special Materials:
This is considered Out-Service Training for PennDOT attendees; BUSINESS PARTNERS MAY ATTEND. All attendees MUST register directly with NECEPT. Upon confirmation from NECEPT, PennDOT attendees must also be registered in LSO and start the OST process. Continuing Education Credits



Awarding continuing education credits (PDH/CEU/CEH) to a training course or other training event does not imply or guarantee that the training course/event is approved by the Pennsylvania State Registration Board of Professional Engineers, Geologists and Land Surveyors.

According to Pennsylvania Act 25, “Credit determination for activities…shall be the responsibility of the licensee.  Continuing professional competency obtained by a licensee should maintain, improve or expand skills or knowledge obtained prior to initial licensure, including law and ethics applicable to the profession, or develop new and relevant skills and knowledge.”
