General Information

Summary:
Geographic Information System (GIS) is a mapping application that combines layers of data through structured queries that can be used to integrate and analyze information from various systems/sources. GIS is a valuable tool that can support PNG initiatives of regionalization, transportation planning, and incident management. This webinar will provide several examples of GIS products that can be used by organizations to help improve decision making and drive priorities.

Learning Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, the attendee will:
1. Obtain an understanding of PennDOT GIS capabilities
2. Understand how GIS can be used for analysis, planning, asset management, and incident management
3. Become familiar with existing applications that use GIS
4. Understand staff structure/capabilities to support GIS

Target Audience:
Managers and supervisors in the districts, counties and Central Office involved in planning, analysis, development of programs, management/coordination of resource sharing and incident management. In addition, GIS Coordinators and GIS operators will find this beneficial in knowing where to locate instructions on how to generate these products for their districts.
