General Information

Summary:
Participants will learn and use various techniques to present information.
As a final evaluation, participants will deliver a 15-20 minute presentation from a pre-planned discussion topic. The presentation will address work-related topics on equipment or other subject areas approved by the instructor. Participants will be required to utilize visual aids in their presentation, i.e. equipment, handouts, flipcharts, etc. Participants will be evaluated in their final presentation. Participants must show satisfactory completion to pass this phase of the training.

PLEASE NOTE: THE COURSE BEGINS AT 12:00 PM ON DAY ONE AND CONCLUDES AT 12:00 PM ON DAY FOUR.

Learning Outcomes:
Participants will be able to:
1. Understand adult-learning theory and techniques;
2. Analyze the audience and develop instruction to meet the audience's training needs;
3. Develop strategies to overcome the fear of public speaking;
4. Retrieve resources from Fleet Management Division intranet site;
5. Prepare and deliver a 15-20 minute presentation that includes: objectives, motivational introductions, an outline of key points, testing for understanding, conclusions and i incorporates visual aids;
6. Evaluate and provide constructive feedback to each presenter in the class, identifying strengths and areas that need improvement.

Target Audience:
This course is only for employees who hold the Transportation Equipment Operator Specialist (TEOS) position and Transportation Equipment Operator (A) and (B) volunteers. Employees responsible for Equipment & Maintenance, Mechanic Training, may take this course.
NOTE: All other PennDOT employees who instruct must complete the two-day Certified PennDOT Instructor course (78BHR3200089).

Continuing Education Credits



Awarding continuing education credits (PDH/CEU/CEH) to a training course or other training event does not imply or guarantee that the training course/event is approved by the Pennsylvania State Registration Board of Professional Engineers, Geologists and Land Surveyors.
