General Information

Summary:
Upon successful completion of this course, a participant will be able to:
This course presents the PENNDOT PSLRFD Design Program Version 2.0 method of solution for selected areas of five pre-stressed beam examples. THIS COURSE DOES NOT TEACH THE ATTENDEE THE MECHANICS OF THE PROGRAM. THIS IS NOT A HANDS-ON COMPUTER COURSE.

Learning Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, an attendee will be able to:
-complete sample problems in the design mode consisting of: (1) a 40-foot, single-span, adjacent box beam bridge, and (2) a 50-foot/95-foot/55-foot three-span, continuous spread box beam bridge;
-complete sample problems in the analysis mode consisting of: (1) a 138-foot, single-span I-beam bridge, (2) a 96-foot/108-foot two-span, continuous I-beam bridge, and (3) an 88-foot single-span, spread box beam bridge;
-recognize differences in LFD and LRFD design processes relative to AASHTO and DM-4 LRFD pre-stress design specifications; and
-identify the PENNDOT PSLRFD Design Program Version 2.0 method of solution for the previously-mentioned selected process areas that are commonly misunderstood.

Prerequisites:
A basic understanding on how to maneuver in the PSLRFD Design Program, and a working knowledge of bridge engineering design and analysis

Target Audience:
Bridge design engineers with a working knowledge of the PSLRFD Design Program mechanics. This course is not designed for Civil Engineer Trainees.
