General Information

Summary:
Precast concrete pavement systems are becoming the pavement systems of choice for rapid rehabilitation of high volume roadways in urban/suburban areas where daytime lane closure may be difficult and challenging. The SHRP2 Project R05 study, completed in 2012, demonstrated that the PCP technology is ready for wider implementation and that many of the PCP systems available in the US can meet the needs of highway agencies for rapid renewal of their highway systems.
This workshop is based on the SHRP2 Project R05 Final Report and recent advances in the technology. The workshop will provide highway agencies and other stakeholders with the most updated information on the best practices related to precast pavement technology and provide guidance on selection of candidate projects for PCP applications, development of project-specific design and construction requirements, and PCP system acceptance.

Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of the workshop, attendees will have an understanding of:
• Fundamentals of PCP technology
• Candidate project selection methodology (for high volume roadways)
• Design and construction considerations PCP systems
• Panel fabrication
• Keys to successful PCP projects
• Requirements for new PCP system acceptance
