General Information

Summary:
This course was formerly entitled "Storage Tank Management Training - Pub 694”. This session is focused on storage tank Class B Operator responsibilities only.
This course provides the PennDOT Storage Tank Coordinators (Class B Operators) with the PADEP mandated technical storage tank training required to comply with Pennsylvania and Federal storage tank regulations. This training also provides the District Tank Coordinators with the knowledge and materials to instruct facility personnel responsible for day-to-day operations of storage tanks (Class C Operators). The course uses the Department's Storage Tank Manual (Publication 694) as a reference, and covers:
1) Management of underground storage tanks (USTs) regulated under the PA Storage Tank & Spill Prevention Act (Tank Act);
2) Permits, inspections, maintenance, and records retention;
3) Corrective actions and emergency response planning (Combined Facility Response Plans);
4) Management of other USTs not regulated under the Tank Act

Learning Outcomes:
a) Understand roles and responsibilities of PennDOT’s Class B storage tank operators;
b) Understand regulatory environment governing the installation, operation, maintenance and closure of regulated USTs;
c) Appropriately assess, plan, and implement the necessary release and release prevention actions associated with storage tanks;
d) Comply with the permitting, reporting, and record keeping requirements established in Federal and State Regulations and PennDOT policies;
e) Understand requirements for Class C Operator Training.
