Summary: | This course provides an overview of the content of Publication 281, the Department's Waste Site Evaluation Procedures, and includes a half day of discussion on the latest revisions (2004) and their impact.

Learning Outcomes: | Upon successful completion of this course, an attendee will be able to: -understand the purpose and the overall procedures of the Pub. 281 processes for Waste Site evaluation and for environmental due diligence with fill, their relationship with governing laws and regulations, and their relationship with the NEPA Process and the Transportation Project Development Process; -identify the roles and responsibilities of District, Central Office, and consultant staff within the Pub. 281 Process; and -understand the appropriate use of sampling methodologies and various pre-, post-, and in-construction procedures to protect human health and the environment, avoid project delay, and reduce project cost.
