Summary:
TRB will conduct a webinar that will discuss Structural Health Monitoring (SHM), which is a process aimed at providing accurate and in-time information concerning structural condition and performance of bridges. It consists of permanent continuous, periodic, or periodically continuous recording of representative parameters, over short or long terms. SHM data may help inform and evaluate the effectiveness of extending the life of a bridge. This webinar will present three real-life examples that demonstrate how the information obtained from SHM can be used to extend a bridge’s lifetime.

Learning Outcomes:
At the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:
• Demonstrate the use of SHM
• Identify the parties involved in SHM and frame their responsibilities
• Compare SHM solutions to determine efficiency and feasibility
• Define SHM activities and develop an implementation plan
