General Information

Summary:
This course focuses on the non-destructive testing (NDT) methods by ultrasonic testing. Course includes hands-on examples of this NDT technique. Participants will demonstrate proficiency in this testing method at the conclusion of the course. Training meets the minimum recommended for Level 2 technicians by the American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT).

Learning Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of the course, attendees will be able to:
Safely use UT equipment
Understand applicable Code requirements
Set up and calibrate equipment
Test welds and base metal related to bridge and highway application
Accept / reject as necessary
Report findings

Prerequisites:
Must have attended and passed the Liquid Penetrant Testing - Level 1 (NDT) Training course.

Target Audience:
District Structural Control Engineers, Bridge Design and Technology Division Structural Materials Testing personnel, Asset Management Bridge Inspection personnel.
