General Information

Summary:
This webinar will present information on innovative intersection and interchange designs that have demonstrated great advantages toward improving safety and mobility for all users. As part of the safety focus area of the Every Day Counts (EDC) initiative, the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) is promoting several proven techniques to improve the safety of intersections: roundabouts, displaced left-turn intersections, restricted crossing U-turn intersections, median U-turn intersections, and the diverging diamond interchange. This webinar will describe how these innovative designs may be applied to solving challenging intersection problems.

Learning Outcomes:
The innovative intersection and interchange geometrics discussed will offer engineers more options for trying to
solve difficult traffic and safety challenges in ways that are economical. These designs should be included for
study during the planning and development phase of an intersection improvement project.

Target Audience:
The course is intended for highway design engineers.

Final Exam:
No
