General Information

Summary:
The Sign Foreman Academy is designed for new and experienced sign foremen. Personnel in the counties or districts that are involved in sign installation and maintenance activities are also encouraged to attend, if space is available. Topics of the training include, but are not limited to, types of signs, publications and documents related to signing, duties and responsibilities of the sign foreman, proper sign installation and maintenance, and SAP sign inventory and plant maintenance.

Learning Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, the learner will be able to:
1. Recognize what information is contained in Publications 23, 46, 111, 213, 236 and 664 as it relates to signing.
2. Recognize the roles and responsibilities for sign installation and maintenance.
3. Install the different types of signs in accordance to Department standards.
4. Utilize SAP plant maintenance for sign inventory and maintenance.
5. Recognize the Department's legal responsibility with the motoring public as it relates to signing.

Awarding continuing education credits (PDH/CEU/CEH) to a training course or other training event does not imply or guarantee that the training course/event is approved by the Pennsylvania State Registration Board of Professional Engineers, Geologists and Land Surveyors.

According to Pennsylvania Act 25, “Credit determination for activities…shall be the responsibility of the licensee.  Continuing professional competency obtained by a licensee should maintain, improve or expand skills or knowledge obtained prior to initial licensure, including law and ethics applicable to the profession, or develop new and relevant skills and knowledge.”
