General Information

Summary:
In a force account situation, the traditional project management roles performed by the Department and the construction Contractor are reversed in that it is the PennDOT Project Manager who is responsible for directing the work. As a result, the PennDOT Project Manager must develop a plan for the operation of the force account, and then work with the Contractor to implement that plan. The Webinar will focus on some of the key aspects of force account work that a PennDOT Project Manager should address when planning an operation in order to ensure the lowest possible cost to the Department and the least possible impact on the construction project’s schedule.

Learning Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, the attendee will be able to:
•Distinguish those costs that the Department is required to reimburse directly per the Pub 408 Specifications from those that are considered to be included in the overhead and profit markups that are paid.
•Identify, based on the type of work being performed, what force account cost component represents the major expense for the operation.
•Recognize when a particular force account operation will have the required adverse impact on the construction project’s schedule.
