General Information

Summary:
This one-day classroom refresher course is intended to provide guidance to managers and supervisors in the winter maintenance area. Planning equipment and new technology areas are highlighted.
Materials:
Instructors will provide: Course material, presentation hand-outs and personal experience.
Students will provide: An open mind and willingness to learn.

Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of this course the participants will be able to:
a. Plan winter maintenance activities;
b. Understand the relationship between winter maintenance activities and the environment;
c. Provide a higher level of service to the motorist.

Teaching Method:
Instructor-led in classroom

Prerequisites:
None

Target Audience:
It is recommended that all Highway Maintenance Managers and Highway Foremen attend this course on a four-year rotational basis. This provides refresher training and updates to those involved in winter maintenance.

Supervisor: Reinforce importance of winter operations
Participant: Review local winter planning procedures
b. Post-course
Supervisor: Solicit input from attendees in winter planning and practices
