Summary: | This webinar takes place on November 20, 2013 from 1:00 PM- 2:30 PM One of the technologies for the Federal Highway Administration’s (FHWA) Every Day Counts (EDC) initiative is 3D Engineered Models for Construction. A series of eight webinars have been developed to assist the FHWA’s transportation partners in adopting this proven technology. The first webinar titled Overview of 3D Engineered Models for Construction is open for registration. 3D models have been successfully deployed in the design and construction of industrial, office and residential buildings for years. More recently, the transportation industry has adopted this technology in planning, designing, and constructing highway projects. There is evidence that using 3D engineered models can shorten the construction phase of a project and contribute to overall project safety and efficiency while reducing costs. National highway industry partners—the Associated General Contractors of America, American Transportation and Road Builders Association, and American Association of State Highway Transportation Officials—have seen firsthand the benefits 3D modeling offers. They have joined with the FHWA to promote wider adoption of 3D modeling for highway construction. The purpose of this webinar series is to support the transportation community in meeting the goal of adopting 3D Engineered Models for Construction under the Every Day Counts initiative
