General Information

Summary:
The presentation focuses on the benefits, limitations, and applications of aerial photography, geodetic control surveys, and photogrammetric mapping. Participants learn about various aerial photo and photogrammetry products and how the products are used throughout the Commonwealth for various applications.
This presentation does not focus on technical details or the technical process of photogrammetry, but instead is given from the end-user’s point-of-view. From the Surveyor who is tasked with gathering data to the Design or Liaison Engineer concerned with overall projects, photogrammetry is presented as a tool to help meet the participants’ challenges.

Learning Outcomes:
- Describe the benefits, limitations, and applications of aerial photography, geodetic control surveys, and photogrammetric mapping (presentation includes sample projects).
- Explain the importance of accuracy in geodetic control surveys, how geodetic control surveys are integrated, and why they and can be a useful resource throughout the life of a project.
- Describe the preferred request process and identify lead times for scheduling a photogrammetric project.
