General Information

Summary:
A PennDOT/FHWA funded research effort was recently completed by Lehigh University on the assessment of the 100 year service life performance of reinforced concrete structures in the state of Pennsylvania. The study examined the chloride resistance of ready mix and precast produced concretes through the laboratory assessment of chloride migration coefficient. The group also developed a life cycle prediction tool in accordance with FIB Model Code for Service Life Design, bulletin 34. The training seminar will provide background on the test methods that were performed and the development and use of the tool.
The June 21st, 2016 class will discuss the tool developed by Lehigh University.
The August 16, 2016 class will be presented by CH2M Hill and will discuss a slightly different tool developed by CH2M Hill. This will be from a national perspective on 100 Year Service Life.
Attendance at only one of these two classes is required.

Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to:
 -- Understand the background on the test methods that were performed to assess the 100 year service life performance of reinforced concrete structures in the state of Pennsylvania
 -- Understand how the test methods were developed
 -- Understand the use of the tool
