Summary: | PennDOT is interested in producing constructible, cost effective designs that require fewer design revisions and field changes, and save significant time and costs throughout the design and construction process. "The purpose of a constructability review is to refine a project's design and increase its construction efficiency." This course will provide a better understanding of the differences between an engineering design review and a constructability review, identify specific tasks included in a constructability review and the best timeframes for incorporating reviews into the project design process. Key issues to be addressed in this presentation include: -Applying construction knowledge, experience and expertise to project planning, design, scheduling and cost estimating. -Identifying and resolving issues early. -Coordinating with utilities. -Conducting site investigations. -Reviewing engineering design documents. -Developing and analyzing schedules. -Reviewing Estimate and biddability.
