Summary:
This course will provide participants with an understanding of acid bearing rock (ABR), how acid rock drainage forms, and potential impacts (environmental and roadway infrastructure) of acid rock drainage.. The participants will learn how to recognize signs of potential ABR, procedures to determine if acid forming materials are present and mitigation strategies if ABR is found.

Learning Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, the attendee will be able to:
• Explain the process of acid formation.
• Identify potential impacts of acid development and runoff.
• Recognize the ABR process to determine if ABR is present.
• Explain mitigation strategies.
