General Information

Summary:
PROJECT SUMMARY
The purpose of this research project was to determine the benefits of adding reinforcement to Spray Applied Pipe Liners (SAPLs) applications. SAPLs for buried pipe structures are thin-shell structures having thicknesses typically ranging from 1 in. to 3 in. Additional reinforcement to these thin-shelled systems must fit within the typical thicknesses. The magnitude of bending that the SAPL will experience as part of the existing soil-structure interaction system will determine the selection of the reinforcement system(s) and at what level. The objectives of this research were:
1. When to add additional reinforcement?
2. How to add additional reinforcement?
3. How much additional reinforcement needed?
4. What are the benefits of non-metallic tensile reinforcement like a basalt mesh?

Teaching Method:
Webinar

Target Audience:
 PennDOT Materials Managers
 District design staff
 District construction staff
 CO Design staff
 CO Construction staff

Final Exam:
No
