General Information

Summary:
Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) is an optical remote sensing technology that measures distance or other properties by illuminating the target and maps physical features with high resolution. The Webinar will present the three different types of LiDAR and which types of projects would benefit by the use of LiDAR. PennDOT project examples of LiDAR in design and maintenance will be discussed. The Webinar will also provide instruction on interpretation of LiDAR data.

Learning Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, the attendee will:
1.Provide a brief overview of LiDAR.
2.Discuss advantages and disadvantages of LiDAR Surveys vs. other survey methods.
3.Discuss the uses of LiDAR in design and maintenance projects and review actual project examples.

Target Audience:
All professional licensees in PennDOT and anyone interested in learning about LiDAR Technology uses in engineering and surveying.
