General Information

Summary:
The one-day training course will be tailored to the specific needs of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) on the fundamentals of inertial profiling technology, ride quality, the International Roughness Index (IRI), and ProVAL software used to analyze road profiles for construction project purposes. This training will be geared toward both agency construction management and inspection staff as well as contractors with little to no experience in IRI based construction smoothness specifications, inertial profiling equipment, or ProVAL software.

Learning Outcomes:
• have an understanding of ride quality-based highway smoothness using the IRI.
• understand the equipment and components necessary to collect an inertial profile.
• have the ability to analyze road profiles against criteria in a smoothness specification.
