General Information

Summary:
Pennsylvania Senate Bill # 748 amended Title 75 to require Escort Vehicle Operators of supersized loads to be certified and licensed. This course is designed to prepare individuals to fulfill escort duties safely and effectively. It includes an overview of the escort industry, requirements for escort vehicle operators and their vehicles, procedures for escorting oversize loads, elements of route planning, and reviews driver safety. The course also will include Pennsylvania specific requirements.
This Class is only required for Certified Escort Vehicle Drivers operating in lieu of Pennsylvania State Police during Superload moves. Standard pilot car drivers are currently not required to take this course.

Learning Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, participants shall be able to:
-Understand the purpose of an escort
- Describe escort qualifications
-Perform Escort Best Practices
-Know vehicle requirements for escorts
-List mandatory equipment for escorts
-List optional equipment for escorts
-Know rules/laws specific to Pennsylvania for Certified Escort Operators

Teaching Method:
Instructor Led

Prerequisites:
- Must be 21 years old.
- Must have 3 years documented experience escorting oversized/overweight loads.
- Valid PA driver’s license or valid license from the state or jurisdiction of residence.

This is Prerequisite For:
PA Certification as Certified Escort Vehicle driver.

Special Materials:
Attendees are to bring photo ID to class. Registration/Check in is from 7:30 to 8:00.
