General Information

Summary:
The purpose of the course is to educate PennDOT maintenance and construction staff in the effects of sedimentation on waters of this Commonwealth; basic erosion and sediment control best management practices (BMPs) used in roadway construction and maintenance projects; proper installation and maintenance of erosion and sediment control BMPs; and a review of the regulations and permits for erosion and sediment control.

Learning Outcomes:
At the conclusion of this course the participant will:
Be familiar with the negative effects of sedimentation upon Waters of this Commonwealth.
Obtain a working knowledge of the regulations regarding erosion and sediment control.
Be able to identify if their project requires a state permit.
Identify the proper erosion and sediment control BMPs and their specifications to be used on their project.
Ensure the proper installation and maintenance of erosion and sediment control BMPs.
