Summary: | This course is an Environmental Special Topics Webinar that provides an overview of requirements for managing universal waste generated by PennDOT. The webinar will provide an overview of what universal waste is; what its regulatory requirements are in terms of on-site handling, response to releases, recycling, and tracking; and how these requirements pertain to PennDOT (and how PennDOT personnel must comply). The training will be tailored to PennDOT employees who handle or have the responsibility for managing universal waste. Training components is in accordance with federal regulations (40 CFR 273), state regulations (25 PA Code 266b), and PennDOT Publication 611.

Learning Outcomes: | Attendees will be able to identify which wastes are universal wastes, time limitations for accumulation of universal wastes, labeling requirements, on-site storage/management practices, procedures for response to releases, recycling requirements, and tracking practices for universal waste.
