General Information

Summary:	PennDOT has developed a new tool for use by PennDOT Staff and consultants called FREEVAL PA. This tool implements the HCM 6th Edition Freeway Facilities analysis procedure. FREEVAL can be used for work-zone staging, work zone delay and user cost analysis, lane reservation analysis, diversion sensitivity analysis, freeway alternatives analysis and scenario planning including the implementation of TSMO strategies, and incident and reliability analysis. The class will also cover policy implications of FREEVAL, and both planning and detailed analysis applications. This will be a hands-on class and attendees will learn to use the tool on their computer through hands-on case studies.
Learning Outcomes:	Upon completion of this course, the learner will be able to: 1. Describe when FREEVAL PA should be used 2. Navigate FREEVAL PA interface 3. Describe FREEVAL PA outputs 4. View and interpret FREEVAL PA results 5. Perform FREEVAL analysis
Teaching Method:	Instructor-Led
Prerequisites:	Background knowledge on HCM Freeway analysis preferred but not required.

Special Materials:	Special Instructions to Attendees: Personal or work laptop will be used for the class. The attendee will need to download the FREEVAL PA software in advance of the class. The software will be emailed to attendees in advance.
