General Information

Summary:
This training course was identified as part of the Position Analysis Workbook process for Inspectors-in-Charge position. The target audience would be work Inspectors-in-charge, other field personnel and construction partners.
The course will include a presentation:
- Exploring components of effective communication
- Describing and demonstrating effective verbal and nonverbal communication techniques
- Building confidence to wisely deal with difficult behavior in construction situations
- Providing opportunities to practive effective communication for construction scenarios
- Drawing on individual and group experiences to enhance individual proficiency

Learning Outcomes:
Communication essentials are explored in order to create a common understanding of a communications framework, which can be applied to construction situations. It introduces four quick questions to answer about the audience and situation at hand. Additionally, it helps construction professionals gain confidence, build rapport, and understand how others interpret verbal and nonverbal messages. Finally, the course provides strategies tohelp avoid breakdowns in communication.
As a result of this course the attendee will be able to:
- Actively listen
- Ask and answer questions
- Deal with difficult behavior
- Present introductions and conclusions
- Display self-confidence

Target Audience:
Department personnel, other field personnel, and construction partners are invited to attend the training as well.
