General Information

Summary:
This course provides an overview and reviews operational techniques related to surface improvement operations specifically Surface Treatment/Seal Coat operations performed by PennDOT's maintenance personnel.

Learning Outcomes:
At the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Identify the type of pavement distress causes and repair techniques
- Selection and implementation of the appropriate surface improvement treatment i.e. Double Application or single application
- Explain the principles of Surface Improvement related to Surface Treatment/ Seal Coat “Method and Procedures”
- Explain the Quality Assurance Evaluation process

Teaching Method:
Instructor led.

Target Audience:
PennDOT maintenance personnel are required to attend Surface Improvement training every two years. Required personnel, Assistant Manager in charge of the Surface Treatment/Seal Coat Crew, the Surface Treatment/Seal Coat foreman, Stone Chipper Operators, roller Operators and Distributor Operators.
