General Information

Summary:	Environmental Compliance Training participants, including Inspectors-in-Charge and Assistant Construction Engineers, will understand the need for contractor compliance with various environmental permits and regulations; identify permitting and regulatory agencies; and acquire the skills needed to research, obtain, understand, and comply with permits and community standards.
Learning Outcomes:	Upon Completion of this training event participant can expect to know or understand the following: -Describe the difference between regulatory agencies and cooperating agencies/commissions, and explain their compliance authority. -Identify permit agencies and cooperating agencies that Inspection personnel most often encounter, and state their areas of responsibility. -Explain the role of County Conservation Districts (CCDs) as designees of PA DEP. -List three types of permits normally issued for a project, and state under what circumstances each permit is required. -Find Special Conditions in a permit. -Identify the characteristics of a wetland. -List the required actions when a contractor encounters unexpected environmental conditions including wetlands, archaeological sites, and historic sites. -Define clean fill. " State where to find two resources that provide clean fill guidelines. " Tell why it is important to consider community concerns regarding a construction project. " List three ways to positively impact the community. " Identify PennDOT resources for community partnership. " State two other environmental conditions that may apply.
Target Audience:	This course was identified in the Position Analysis Workbook (PAW) for Assistant Construction Engineers and Inspector-in-Charge positions; other field personnel and construction partners are invited to attend this training as well.
