General Information

Summary:
Concrete pavement recycling is a smart, environmentally sustainable choice. However, the physical and mechanical properties of recycled concrete aggregate (RCA) can be quite different than natural aggregate. Appropriate pavement material and structural design modifications may be necessary when using RCA.
This webinar will discuss the differences in properties of natural aggregate and RCA, the impact of production techniques and practices on those properties, and will provide recommendations for using RCA in various paving applications. It will also present “best practices” for concrete pavement recycling operations and a summary of recent PennDOT project experience and cost savings with concrete pavement recycling.

Learning Outcomes:
Participants will gain a better understanding of the physical and mechanical properties of recycled concrete aggregate. They will learn about the successful use of concrete pavement recycling in Pennsylvania and the structural, economic and time savings benefits that may be realized.

Target Audience:
The course is intended for highway design engineers and would also be useful to paving contractors.

Final Exam:
No
