General Information

Summary:
An Aid to Navigation Plan (ATON) is a plan that indicates the location of devices external to a vessel intended to assist a boater in determining position or safe course, or warn of dangers and obstructions. This webinar will guide the participant through an overview of the ATON process, and their requirements associated with PennDOT transportation projects. Instruction will be provided regarding when ATON Plans are required, the information required to be represented in the ATON Plans, along with the basic format, and the review cycle. The webinar will also provide information on coordination with the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission.

Learning Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, the attendee will:
1.Identify the regulations and policy involved in the development of ATON plans.
2.Present the required elements of an ATON package/submission.
3.Discuss ATON signage required for differing project types by observing numerous “real-life” project examples.

Target Audience:
Environmental Managers, Engineers and Designers who are responsible for developing the Aids to Navigation Plans, and PennDOT professional licensees.
