Summary: | This course provides the full, detailed methodology for determining the safety performance of the geometric design of intersections, two-lane rural roads and multilane arterials. This methodology is based upon large-scale definitive research and includes crash prediction models for total crashes and cross-section related crashes. Lane width, shoulder width, roadside hazard ratings, traffic volume (exposure), access density (driveways) and other characteristics are incorporated into the methodology. The course also provides detailed examples of safety performance prediction for highway segments and intersections.
