General Information

Summary:
This course provides participants with detailed instruction on the procedures defined within the 2010 Highway Capacity Manual (HCM), including all analytical chapters for uninterrupted and interrupted flow. This course covers the methodologies in the 2010 HCM Chapters for Freeways (Segments, Weaving, Ramps and Facilities); Highways (Multilane and Two-Lane); and Streets (TWSC, AWSC, Roundabouts, Signals, Urban Streets Segments and Facilities, with Pedestrian and Bicycle Facilities). Additionally, demonstrations on the use of software (Highway Capacity Software) will be provided to reinforce the details of the HCM procedures and as applications that are used in professional practice.

Learning Outcomes:
Participants will be able to conduct capacity and level of service analyses of freeways, highways, arterials and intersections at the operations level.

Target Audience:
This training is for traffic engineers and transportation planners involved in capacity analysis at the design, operations or planning levels.
