General Information

Summary:
This workshop provides a wide range of information about the design, installation and repair of guide rail end treatments that the Department of Pennsylvania has approved for use. Topics discussed include the background on barriers and terminals, the updated NCHRP 350 (referred to as The AASHTO Manual for Assessing Safety Hardware (MASH)), various terminal options (posts, foundation tubes, layouts, test levels, etc.), crash testing, and recent modifications and developments.

Learning Outcomes:
• Identify do’s and don’ts concerning proper application and installation
• State differences between tangent and flared w-beam terminals
• Describe proper installation techniques for Guiderail End Treatments (Tangent, Flared, and Median), and Box Beam End Treatments (Shoulder and Median)

Target Audience:
Department and consultant personnel, who design, install, inspect, maintain and repair W-Beam Guiderail End Treatments and Box Beam End Treatments.
