General Information

Summary:
3D model-centric process implementation for bridges is gaining momentum across the country. This course presents both the basics and advanced processes of modeling box culverts within Bentley's OpenBridge Designer (OBD) software. An introduction to the workflow, creating a base and refined 3D box culvert model, capturing quantities and other properties, and generating typical views is all covered in this 1-day, hands-on course. Note that earthwork will not be covered in this course. The content focuses on workflows that apply to typical PennDOT structures including flared/u-wing precast and cast-in-place box culverts per BD-632M. The instruction utilizes the actual Bentley software and PennDOT workspace, so the attendees are expected to have these necessary software and workspace items installed in advance of the training start date.

Learning Outcomes:
1. Understand the PennDOT developed model-centric workflow to create a box culvert with OpenBridge Designer software suite using the currently available tools and functionality.
2. Create a base 3D culvert model for both flared and u-wing culverts following PennDOT standards and specifications.
3. Increase the level of detail of OpenBridge Modeler generated elements through variables, parametric relationships, and solids modeling tools to follow PennDOT standards and specifications.
4. Capture culvert quantities and develop typical views
