General Information
Summary:
This two-day seminar will teach appraisers to prepare advanced analyses in a simpler manner and with less error. It will appeal to participants with experience in market analysis and highest and best use and also those with experience in applying inferred market analysis. The focus is on problem solving and efficiency while uncovering some of the tools of the spreadsheet program that will make an analysis stronger and increase productivity. Participants will find the applications especially helpful in the areas of market analysis, feasibility analysis, and highest and best use. Instruction on property modeling and pivot tables is also included. Each part of the Seminar Handbook includes techniques to solve real world problems and assist appraisers in developing best practices in modeling that can be applied in other situations.
Learning Outcomes:
At the end of this seminar participants should be able to:
Recognize best practices and what to consider in financial model development
Demonstrate how and when to use defined names in cells and ranges
Identify key inputs in maximum building-size calculations
Describe how to use key features of a spreadsheet program to easily make complex calculations
Identify key inputs in land residual analysis
Identify key inputs in feasibility rent analysis
Recognize complex highest and best use analysis
Recognize the basic concepts in sorting
Analyze the outlining function in Excel
Demonstrate skills in filtering data
Identify the basic concepts and filtering skills within pivot tables
Teaching Method:
Instructor lead computer lab.
Prerequisites:
This seminar is for participants with a basic level of knowledge of spreadsheets, especially Excel, such as those obtained from the Using Spreadsheet Programs in Real Estate Appraisals seminar. Participants should have experience in market analysis, highest and best use, and inferred market analysis.

Real estate appraisers, reviewers, real estate brokers, and underwriters
Special Materials:
Attendees should have basic level of knowledge of spreadsheets.
