General Information
Summary:
The DeLorme XMap 5.0 Professional software is specialized mapping software designed for advanced topographic mapping, routing, and GPS navigation. This course provides basic knowledge and techniques necessary to operate the software.
Learning Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course, the students will be able to create, open, and save projects. They will obtain the knowledge necessary to customize the program interface, modify display settings, add data to projects, and access NGS data. The students will also be provided with hands on exercises. These exercises include the following:
• Importing raster imagery
• Creating routes
• Adding routable roads
• Adding symbols and waypoints to the map
• Exporting waypoints
• Viewing profiles
• Printing maps and directions
• Saving print areas to files
• Measuring distances and areas
• Connecting GPS handhelds
• Creating and importing of transfer files
Prerequisites:
Experience in surveying or design disciplines are desirable although not required. Students should have a basic understanding of the Windows operating system.
Target Audience:
Survey and other associated personnel who require training using the mapping software.
